Gutter Helmet is a state-of-the-art gutter filter that was invented by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) graduate Bob Demartini in the early 1960s. It is a completely meshless gutter protector that can be found on homes throughout the Jacksonville, FL, area, including the nearby communities of Arlington, Mandarin, and Jacksonville Beach. Though relatively simple in design, this gutter filter excels at keeping gutters clog-free and freely flowing. Leaves, twigs, pine needles, small sticks, animal nesting materials – virtually no type of debris can make its ways past the Gutter Helmet gutter filter and cause a problem.
How, exactly, does it work? To begin, Gutter Helmet can either be installed on top of an existing gutter system or installed in tandem with an entirely brand new one. Either way, it is equally effective at preventing clogs.
Once installed, Gutter Helmet works as follows:
- Rainwater clings to its specially textured outer surface. After it passes over the rounded edge, it falls directly into the gutter channel through a narrow, three-eighths-of-an-inch opening.
- All debris is kept out of the gutter, falling on its own accord to the ground below.
- The gutter filter stays attached to the roof with the aid of a heavy-duty reinforced aluminum alloy mounting bracket. Hurricane-force wind speeds, deluges of rain, and other adverse weather conditions will not knock it out of place. In fact, Gutter Helmet is able to handle as much as 22 inches of rainfall per hour, which is more than twice the amount of hourly rainfall on record in the United States.
